Hi everybody, I am Nanette DeWester, and I'm chair of the Easton Democratic Town Committee, and I normally don't do this because, like a good journalist, I'm not the story. I'm here to support the candidates and I'm not a candidate, but I wanted to make sure everybody in this community as a public service announcement has the best information, not just about the candidates, but about politicking because things are getting very, very crazy now nationally and it's seeping into Easton unfortunately and it's gonna get a little tougher, maybe uglier.

I want you to know the facts so you understand when you're reading information, I don't care what party sends it to you, that it's not misinformation, that it's from a credible source, and you can take that information seriously to make an informed decision when you go to vote.

So I believe most of the town received some kind of a postcard yesterday from an organization.

We don't know what the organization is, we don't know who they are and that's the point.

When you receive political information, I don't care if it's from a PAC, an opinion piece,

whatever it is, especially a party, it has to have something we call an attribution on it

somewhere that declares who they are and who the treasurer is so we know how the money is coming through the organization.

This is legal stuff, this isn't just because it's nice to have, it's absolute must to have and some

kind of returning address or some way to reach that org so you know it's credible and therefore the information is credible. This postcard has none of that and so you have to consider that if they're not following the rules and they're not transparent about who they are and how they're getting money and it's not lawful to do this, it's against the rules and the laws of the state, it's by SEEC, which is the State Elections Enforcement Commission, you get fined for this, then you probably don't want to read it, it's probably not credible, neither is the group that's sending it, right?

A second piece of that was they sent with it a QR code or some kind of link to go or some

information to go to a website. Now we all know in work and life, if you get an email or

someone's trying to drive you toward a site that you know nothing about, if they're not

declaring what it is or who they are, then you probably don't want to go there, I mean for many reasons.

In this case, once again, even if it's benignly not credible or conspiracy theory-driven, you don't know, and it's going to waste your time, and as we all know, we just can't get that time back in life, right? I want folks in Easton, and I'm sure the Republican Town Company does too, everybody should get informed, correct information from reliable sources, so you make

informed, best decisions about who's going to lead this town. We don't need more cray in

Easton, we don't need more of this national nastiness in Easton, so please, please, if you get

stuff that's strange, recycle it, use it for, I don't know, papier-mache, Christmas ornaments, or

just throw it out. But please don't go into misinformation, spread information, go to either town committee, ask about it, see what this is, go to town hall if you need to, but please don't follow down a path that's not going to be helpful to you or the community, and please remember, we are a community.

It's going to get crazier, probably before it gets calmer, so take care of each other, love each

other, know we're a community, and keep fighting the good fight, and Vote Row A all the way, vote early, and keep out that cray. That rhymed. And have a nice day, that rhymes even more.

Bye.
