When we gathered to say, “No Kings,” we weren’t just resisting national abuses of power—we were committing to defend democracy at every level, especially here at home. That commitment is more urgent than ever.

Easton may feel like a quiet oasis, but the storm of national dysfunction is already hitting us. The consequences are real, and they are local. That’s why this municipal election—especially the race for First Selectman—is pivotal.

As David Bindelglass warned, “Trump’s policies have already begun to directly impact our lives here in town… I am particularly concerned about people losing health care coverage or having to face huge increases … This will especially affect our seniors…  It is inevitable that Easton will lose funding for our schools, as the federal government reduces state funding especially to blue states … Then there is inflation and food insecurity which could worsen as well… This is a ‘perfect storm’ for a town like Easton with no commercial tax base.”

These aren’t hypotheticals. These are consequences. And our best defense is local leadership.

We showed up for the 2024 presidential election. Now, we must show up again to protect the leadership firewall we’ve built in Easton. That means voting for stable, capable leadership—starting with Nick D’Addario for First Selectman.

Nick is experienced, competent, collaborative, and ready to lead as First Selectman.  His opponent, on the other hand, seems confused about the responsibilities of the office—focusing almost exclusively on preservation/zoning criticisms, as if he’s running for Planning & Zoning instead. Beyond that, he offers no real solutions to town wide needs, instead demonstrating a concerning style of personal attacks and bullying tactics, with a history of suing the very town he wants to lead. That’s not leadership—it’s a recipe for dysfunction.

And remember this: Democrats have pursued policies that enabled Easton to preserve more acreage in six years of Democratic-led government than Republicans did in the previous 60.

This election is not about partisanship—it’s about stability, competence, and protecting Easton from the ripple effects of destructive national policies. The First Selectman and our local leaders must manage all of Easton’s needs: schools, roads, safety, budgeting, preservation, and more.

Do we want competency—or chaos? Easton needs leadership, not theater. Solutions, not obstruction. Community service, not self-interest.

Nick D’Addario and the Democrats on Row A are the leaders Easton needs. Your vote is your voice, your power, and your protection. Don’t sit this out.

Vote Row A. Vote for Nick. Vote to keep Easton strong.
