For a detailed analysis of how this project will be financed, please see the detailed breakdown in our recent blog post, EMS Funding Plan Will Not Ask Residents to Shoulder the Burden here.

First Selectman Dave Bindelglass accepting $821,792 check from EMS Asst. Chief Goldstein
In many towns, a critical local project like renovating an EMS building means a huge increase in local taxes. But Easton found a better way. The EMS raised funds themselves to contribute to the project and the volunteers on the EMS building committee, particularly the design subcommittee, delivered a renovation plan that ensures Easton taxpayers aren't presented with a large tax increase to pay for it. While other towns have typically spent $4-8 million on comparable EMS projects, the actual cost of our EMS renovation will be $1,833,458 and because the funds will come from our undesignated fund there will be no direct tax impact. The photo above shows Easton EMS Chief Adam Goldstien delivering a check for $821,792 to First Selectman David Bindelglass to support the renovation.

Architect's rendering of the EMS renovation
From First Selectman Bindelglass:
The architect's plans are well thought out and were approved by the entire building committee last September. The building will be renovated from the same footprint and is designed to fit in its surroundings. While being economical it will also be aesthetically pleasing much like SSES. Inside the design maximizes use of the existing space. The architect has weighed the up-front costs of certain features like wall coverings and windows with long term durability and maintenance/replacement costs. From the Easton EMS:
"We’re incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from Easton residents for our EMS Building Renovation Project! This project represents more than just a building—it’s an investment in safety, functionality, and the future of emergency care in our community.
This renovation, planned over two years by our dedicated all-volunteer EMS Building Committee, will bring a state-of-the-art facility to life, ensuring a safer and more functional workspace for years to come.
Thank you, Easton, for your continued support!
